6. Plotting breath detections - ashleyblawas/respdetect GitHub Wiki

This step will allow you to plot all breath detections for the tag deployment and will plot a continuous breathing rate signal. Keep in mind that because respdetect identifies surfacings as periods where the depth is > 5 meters, therefore if there are single breath surfacings where the animal ascends from below 5 m and descend back below 5 m, there will only be one breath in that surfacing and therefore no breathing rate data point for that period.

All Breath Identifications

In the first plot produced in this step, each breath is indicated by a blue or pink semi-transparent square and plotted on the depth and movement time-series. This allows the user to visually inspect all detected breaths in one figure and can highlight potential issues that may have occurred with detections (e.g., regions where the pressure calibration requires an additional offset).

Continuous Breath Rate

The second plot produced in this step plots the continuous respiration rate for the entirety of the tag deployment. Outliers in this plot can also help to identify regions of inaccurate detections that may need to be fixed by changing some of the adjustable parameters.
