Now that the other data files have been created you can run the breath detection set of tools. This section will produce several figures which will be saved in the \figs
folder in the data path and will save all of the detected breaths and their timestamps (relative to the full tag duration) in a file ending with -breaths.mat
.
There will be two figures that pop up which get saved in some form in the \figs
folder that show you the single-breath surfacing detections and logging detections.
Single-breath detections are those which are detected from short (typically <10 seconds) excursions to the surface. During these surfacing events it is assumed that the individual is only taking one breath and therefore the midpoint of that surfacing is selected as the detected breath event.
This figure shows (from left to right): the local maxima in movement peaks in the three movement signals; the density distributions used to determine what should be considered a local maxima; and the detected locations of breaths based on the cooccurrence of these movements peaks.
