Key Commands

show ip ospf xx

show ip ospf neighbor

show ip route ospf -only ospf learned routes

router ospf 1 - enter process

##Configuring OSPFv2 Cisco Routers Configuration: 1 - router ospf 1 to start the process 2 - network x.x.x.x 0.0.0.255 area 0 to advertise networks + wildcard mask for /24 is always going to be 0.0.0.255

Some Troubleshooting: 1 - show ip ospf neighbor first was empty on R1 at first but I learned OSPF needs configured to form adjacent first. 2 - Once all the 3 routers were done, neighbors shown auto.

Tech Journal Entry

In the SIMULATION MODE, it lets you watch packets move hop by hop through the network instead of everything just happening instantly.

Actually really useful for seeing exactly where traffic goes and checking packet info at each device. Sometimes it's hard to just keep tack.

AND TO SAVE THE ROUTER CONFIG - go to the Config tab and hit Save NVRAM. Do this or all your settings get wiped when the router reboots.

Any tips I have?

Fast Forward button = links back quick after reboot

The first ping timing out is normal
