The recoil enchantment can only be applied to shields via Recpil Enchanted Books at an Anvil.

When actively using a shield enchanted with Recoil, Double Edged Swords that are returning to their owner will hit the shield, launching the player backwards. The strenght of the knockback grows with the time the sword spent travelling in air.
