Network Path Analyzer
Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) Network Path Analyzer (NPA) is a diagnostic tool that helps you troubleshoot and validate network connectivity by analyzing routing and security configurations—without sending actual traffic. It identifies how traffic would flow between endpoints (OCI, on-premises, or internet) and highlights misconfigurations that could block connectivity.
🔑 Key Features of OCI Network Path Analyzer
-
Configuration-based analysis: Examines routing tables, security lists, NSGs, and Zero Trust Packet Routing policies to determine if traffic is allowed or denied.
-
No live traffic required: Uses configuration snapshots to simulate connectivity, avoiding disruptions.
-
Supported scenarios:
OCI ↔ OCI
OCI ↔ On-premises
On-premises ↔ OCI* *
OCI ↔ Internet
-
Protocol and port checks: Supports TCP, UDP, ICMP, and custom port definitions with bidirectional/unidirectional testing.
-
Visibility into network hops: Shows each hop along the path, including routing and security decisions.
-
Integration with Batfish: Uses the open-source Batfish engine for reachability analysis and error detection.
Steps to Use Network Path Analyzer
1. Go to Networking - Network Path Analyzer
2. Set up Network Path Analyzer policies
we select Root Compartment before Setup the policy for Path Analyzer
3. Create the Path Analysis
First We give Source Ip (Bastion_server) Pvt IP
Now we give Destination IP (App server) Pvt IP
As result we see that our port reacheable both side.
