Steps to Create Route Table
1. Navigate to Network and click on Virtual Cloud Network and after click on Hub Network
2. Go to Routing option and click on Create Route Table
3. Now give the name of route table and select the compartment Hub_Network_Compartment and add tag and click on create.
4. Go to newly created route table and click on it and here we add route rules
5. In Add Route rules
-
Target type : Internet Gateway,
-
Destination CIDR Block : 0.0.0.0/0,
-
Target Internet Gateway Compartment : Hub_Network_Compartment
-
Target Internet Gateway : Hub_IG
6. Now, we navigate to subnet and click on Public subnet-HUB_NETWORK and here we click on action button and then click on Edit here we update new route table instead of default route table.
Now our new Customized route table attached with our subnet successfully.
📊 Why This Matters
Default Route Table: Usually has basic routes (like local VCN traffic).
Custom Route Table: Lets you control traffic flow, e.g. sending private subnet traffic through a NAT Gateway for outbound internet access, or through a Service Gateway for OCI services.
