Pilot Bios & Mecha References:

Ambus Hammer (Ex-Pilot of Ultra Magnus):

"The gruff old Scottish Pilot who was one of the first brave jockeys to leash a walking nuclear reactor" - TIME Magazine.

Ambus (who prefers to just be called Magnus or Mags) [52 Years Old] was the original Mecha Team (Alpha)'s Field Commander, and led the team through the first years of the war. Developed a repuation as a hardass who sticks to the rules, but can show a softer side when one-on-one with his crew.

Wore out Mechs like nothing else. Only pilot in the original crew to go through 3 Mecha, with a fourth one ordered as a spare & partially completed before the Cuba Incident, when he retired from active duty.

Returned to TTFC after a few years as a retired civilian as a favour to his brother, the UK's UN Ambassador. Took control of the wayward program, turfed out the bad lot to a CIA blacksite, and started running TTFC as a proper Militia, instead of a mad science project.

Dallas Killroy (Ex-Pilot of Dropkick):

"Dallas Kilroy shatters the Land Speed Record at 976.4 miles per hour" - The Cairo Citizen.

First Lieutenant Dallas “Dropkick” Kilroy, Senior Combat Trainer and Physician Consultant
42 years old, 6’2
Dallas, who got the nickname Dropkick from his college years [42 years old] was one of the members of the original mecha team and fought under the command of Ambus Hammer. He became close friends with Orion and Kyrhis, and developed a reputation akin to “your friend’s cool dad who lets you eat all of the snacks”.

His mech, Dropkick, was equipped with a one of a kind “Sleipnir Propulsion Kit”, that allowed him completely autonomous mobility through the air. With unmatched agility, he served for 15 years until the tragic loss of his legs in 2018. He then retired from active duty.

After getting married and starting a family, Dallas returned to TTFC as a senior officer of the program, and took up control over the physical wellness department. He personally trained and coached pilots new and old to keep them in fighting shape.

Maksym Adamovych (Pilot of Megatron):

"Захисник Дунаю! (Danubian Defender!)" - Kyiv Today

Maksym Adamovych is the oldest pilot in the TTFC Program, at 66 years old when our story occurs. Do not let his age fool you, however - He is still a strong, stoic, & unflappable man, his cold demeanor on the battlefield has earned him the nickname of the Iron Sentinel, which he despises.

Hailing from Crimea, in Ukraine, Maksym served with the USSR's Spetsnaz until the fall of the Union, and is a firm believer in Socialism & Communism. His Delta Team (D-Team) are responsible for a lot of the messier missions undertaken by the TTFC, and are rumoured to be used as a secret Black-Ops group by Magnus when needed.

He was a member of the original Alpha Team until the Cuba Incident, at which point he began to form his own unit (Delta Team), and was given permission to form an alternative base of operations for his team in Hong Kong.

Now only seen in combat by the US-Based teams when the shit really hits the fan, Maksym is a commanding presence and a law unto himself when his mind is set on a goal.

Kyrhis Hir (Pilot of Lockdown):

A Propaganda poster featuring Kyrhis in his red & yellow pilot suit.

"Wait, are you saying this one BREATHES FIRE?" - UN Accountability Committee Hearing

  • Kyrhis Hir [37 Years Old] has been with the TTOC program since its inception and stands out both for his towering height (1.9m / 6'3") and the equally imposing size of his mech, 50 meters tall. Despite his intimidating presence and resting serious face, he's known for his chill demeanor and approachability — always ready for a chat or a reassuring head pat.
  • Addons: CLYDE
    • 8
    • 1m20
    • Support cyberdog
    • Mental and physical help
  • Kyrhis was one of the first to join the newly formed Mech program of the TTOC. His rather calm and laid back temperament belie his past, but brings comfort to newer recruits that knows they can come to him for help. Presumably widowed as his late husband has been MIA since the Cuba incident.
  • Usually seen alongside Orion

Orion Pax (Pilot of Optimus Prime):

Design of Orion & Optimus Prime for this AU - A blend of Transformers Prime Optimus Prime & A Pacific Rim Jaeger.

"Now lookit that robot. That's what freedom personified looks like. A good American Man will pilot that." - Some dumbass President, soon to be proven wrong.

Orion [38 Years Old] is one of the original Mecha Team pilots and a seasoned veteran of the program. Having endured gruelling surgical trials to secure her place as one of the first pilots, she carries the weight of a lifetime of battles and the psychological scars to match. Constant nightmares and lingering PTSD leave her perpetually exhausted, though she never lets it stop her from suiting up and getting back into the fight.

Reserved and nervous around people, Ori keeps her struggles to herself, generally seeking solitude over camaraderie. She’s often found zoned out or lost in thought, though her focus snaps into sharp clarity when it comes to piloting her thickly armoured mech, where her skills shine in combat. Despite her outward demeanour, she’s recently taken a brighter step in life by getting engaged to Apolli, a close friend (and secret crush!) since the program's inception. She loves spending time with her "wifey" and their adopted kids.

As Optimus Prime's pilot, Ori's impeccable record has been reflected with a leadership role of the new Prime team, named after her mech.

Vanja Vuković (Pilot of Misfire):

A meme poster of Vanja, made by an unknown TTFC Employee. It shows Vanja with text overlaid saying "It's nothing some Ibuprofen and a CENSORED and five CENSORED and a head injury and CENSORED off and CENSORED myself can't fix." Vanja is wearing their pink & white flight suit, has medium-long black hair, and a silver stud piercing in their left ear.

Vanja Vuković [35 Years Old] was one of the original roster of TTFC Pilots (Alpha Team). He piloted Misfire for the first 5 years of the program, going from strength to strength in the field (Despite the horrendous trauma he, like all other first-gen pilots, suffered to prepare him for the Mecha interface).

He'd been trying to come up with an exit strategy for about a year when the Cuba Incident happened, and presented a golden opportunity. With Misfire being flung the length of the island and crashing into a military site, the rubble would help hide what happened... So he tore off the Mech's damaged arm, gritting his teeth as the interface transmitted the pain to his own arm, and set the crater ablaze. As he slowly slunk into the sea, he'd never felt more free. Maksym just caught sight of him leaving, but in the horrors of that day, he's likely forgotten all about the younger pilot's disappearing act.

Misfire was officially written off as Missing In Action after the debris was cleared - it was obvious the Mecha had landed there and sustained heavy damage - but the lack of more Mecha Scrap leads some to venture Misfire is still out there, somewhere.

Apolli Nix (Pilot of Shattercast):

"Billionaire, Engineer, Entrepeneur... now Mecha Pilot." - TIME Magazine.

Apolli Nix [45 Years Old], Poster Child of the British Government. Graduated from Cardiff University at age 18, with a Master's Degree in Robotics & Computer Vision. Went to Oxford, then MiT, picking up Doctorates in Artificial Intelligence & Applied Software Engineering. She started her own company (Astrionix International) after leaving college, which quickly rocketed to the top of both the stock market and researching fields. She developed the first successful independently intelligent Artifical Intelligence assistant at this point, calling her Teletraan.

When the kaiju attacks began, she was one of the experts drafted in by the newly-formed TTFC to work on ways to combat them. Based on her dissertation research and work on prosthetic limbs with Astrionix, she was fundamental in developing the neurolink systems used to connect Pilots to Mecha, and was extensively called upon when designing the first-generation Mechas.

After falling out with the TTFC command over their bastardised approach to her research (and the horrendous affects on the pilots it was forced upon), she was demoted to a consultant, only allowed to work when needed.

Then Cuba happened, and everything changed.

Ambus ("Call me Magnus, Damnit!"), her mentor, resigns and vanishes for the foreseeable. TTFC is thrown into turmoil by the uproar about Shatterdome Charlie, and command devolves into a quasi-fascistic dictatorship without Magnus to fight back.

At this point, her lowest, she was coerced into designing a rebuild for the new Ultra Magnus mech (Was to be 1-986), with the goal to create a way to keep Mecha on the field for longer. What she'd agreed to, she had no idea.

When she came around from the surgery, she didn't even remember signing up for it. She awoke on a cold surgical slab, naked and alone. She didn't even realise how much pain she was in until she went to move.

Eventually, she recovered. Thanks to Orion, Kyrhis, and the others, she got quickly used to the high levels of maintenance needed to keep the neural implants... things she had designed... from killing her by overloading her nervous system. As soon as she could hold a digipad again, she began to design replacements for the neural implants. No-one would ever again go through what she had.

For most pilots, this process was semi-reversible - the pilot could be unlinked from their designated Mecha and reassigned to a different Unit if needed. Apolli found out this was not true for her later, when she tried to resign, and command threatened to shutdown her Mecha. She couldn't unlink from Shattercast - a side effect of some idiotic TTFC Bootlicker's bastardisation of her technology. If Shattercast ever stopped communicating with her Neural implants, the result would be fatal.

Apolli never told any other Pilot this - and keeps it secret to this day.

It was this, however, that allowed her to design the groundbreaking Harm Reduction Technology she introduced in Generation 2 of the Mecha, as a subtle resistance against the way her and her comrades had been abused.

She then fought with the TTFC through a bitter 5 years, working her way back up the ranks - especially once the UN stepped in and put Magnus in charge.

In 2020, she began to date her long-time flame, Orion Pax - lead pilot of the TTFC program.

In 2024, they married in a secret ceremony only attended by their fellow pilots.

Aydin Kozak (Pilot of First Aid):

"TTFC Faces Questions about injuries sustained by Valedictorian Medical Student in Cuba." - Washington Post

Aydin Kozak, [28 years old, they/them & he/him], has been in the TTFC Program since the early days of the 2nd Generation, (being number “204” in the line). Aydin, who also goes by “Aid”, (a reference to their Mechs designation “First Aid”), is a rather short person [159cm / 5’0.24’’] and currently holds a position as a Field Assistant Engineer, while working directly as a Medic under their supervisor “Rowan Fanacier” (Pilot of Ratchet).

Aydin grew up in South Germany with a Turkish family. Though Aydin never mentioned this, if you asked them about their Family they definitely wouldn’t hide the fact that Aydin was basically sold off to the TTFC. After all, Aydin got the Medical School they wanted so badly out of this, because being a Doctor was all they'd ever wanted to be. The Abandonment issues they formed out of this is mostly left unsaid, however.

Now, while looking pretty grim (or pissed off) most of the time, under that scowl-lined face lies a soft spark. They put their heart and soul into their (personal) research about the Kaiju. However, Aydin’s interest has been known to weird out other folks, making it hard for them to connect with people. Aydin was well aware of that fact - but in hindsight, they didn’t feel the need to explain themself. If they could bring results into their experiments and research, they think those Actions speak far louder than the words levied against them.

Besides their personal research, Aydin also serves as a Medical Staff member in the TTFC and takes it seriously — so seriously that they have a detailed folder about all their patients. (Aydin's OCD certainly helps with this.)

Cuba:

On that day, after a normal day at Shatterdome Charlie, off the coast of Cuba, (soon to be known as home of the TTFC mad science division), Aydin (at only 18 years old) and many others were involved in what’s now known as the “Cuba Incident”. Aydin, being a literally trained First Aider, tried to help as much as they could, until they too were made a victim of the incident, getting crushed by a collapsing hangar, only for Blurr (“Bartholomew Henry Allen”) to find them and rescue them, saving their life.

An emergency surgery was carried out by Rowan, doing an incredibly dangerous field splenectomy, removing their speared spleen - the only way that Aydin could have been saved. The removed Spleen causes Aydin to be at higher risk of getting serious infections such as sepsis, or getting more sick with common ailments easily.

Elizaveta "Elita" O'Neal (Pilot of Elita-One):

"Mastermind, PR Spin Doctress, & Pilot celebrates 4 years heading the public affairs office of TTOC" - Al Jazeera

Administrator O'Neal (38 years old) is responsible for paperwork and to hold the public's opinion about the TTOC positive. She fulfills her duty and obligation with responsibility and care, expected from a person of her upbringing.
Kidding, mostly. She does do a remarkable job but hates to sit in an office or an interview while her colleagues fight and die outside without her. Born to a lawyer and housewife, she grew up wanting for nothing, till her father made a deal and couldn't fulfill it. Elizaveta, an upcoming actress at the time, was forced to join the TTOC as collateral. She never would talk to her father again.

Alyona Valieva (Pilot of Voidlight):

"The Seekers: Seeking out threats for your safety!" - TIME Magazine

A British russian woman, born 1986, Alyona grew up an only child in England with her Russian father and British mother.

Having heard the call of the sky her whole life, Valieva enlisted in the army only a year after finishing high school, aiming for the position of a pilot. Years later, she would become one of the heroes to face the first alien invasion, fighting to the very end of her strength and losing her leg in the process.

Even after the blow to her health, she remained in the armed forces, taking the position of mission control and helping guide the newly emerging mech pilots through their battles.

For a long time, her injury prevented her from fighting directly, but due to the rapid progress in the field of bionic technology, she was able to join the ranks of pilots only a few years later. Then, Valieva took up her old call sign Voidlight, along with a mech of the same name, becoming one of many Seeker-class pilots who defend our citizens at their most vulnerable.
