The Seals of the Old ones are part of a sort of universal source code for the Dark Tapestry. They are used to open direct links to certain Powerful beings in the Dark Tapestry known here as the old ones. These seals can be used to help you in a number of ways as can be seen below.

Seals draw power from the Dark Tapestry and because of this its source is obviously Dark.

In addition to having to draw very complicated seals in order to perform these rituals it is very common for them to require sacrifices, use of drugs or even self mutilation in order to achieve your desired effects.
