Rituals Disciplines - apexevolved/site GitHub Wiki
Depending on where you are, different Ritual Disciplines are available to you. Universal Disciplines, however, are always available for purchase. You generally have access to both Rituals from the world you live on and Universal Disciplines. The storyteller, as always, has the final word.
Rituals are performed in a plethora of ways. Lists of rituals and the specific ways that they are used are called Disciplines. Each dot in a discipline grants a player a new ritual of their choosing that cannot exceed the number of dots they have in the chosen Discipline.
Describing A Discipline
First a player must describe the origins and style of the Discipline that she is trying to define. She must explain how the discipline started and who practices it now. This part is entirely art and is left up to the describer to decide. One does this by selecting a Source and Burdens.
Discipline Source
When describing a Ritual Discipline you must select a source of power in which you Rituals will draw from. This could be anything from a God like being to nature itself but must be selected from the list below.
| Source | Description | Circles of power |
| Divine | Draw power from a willing being more powerful than yourself. This being must have a 7 or greater G,M,S in order to be the source of a discipline power. | Access to any effect that can be generated by the deity or higher being. |
| Natural | Harness the powers of a single planetary ecosystem. Gain a + 1 on ritual rolls with this source when preformed naked. | Can mimic any effect that can be found in the selected planets nature. |
| Cosmic | Harness the raw power of the multiverse. This is the same power that mages draw upon. Ritualists must be a mage, sleepwalker, or have the Disillusioned merit when using of Rituals from disciplines that have a cosmic source or suffer a -5 penalty of rolls to preform said rituals. Rituals with this source require at least 3 purviews. | Can create any effect that a mage could create with dots in the discipline substituting as dots in the Arcanum. |
| Dark | Harness the powers of the Dark Tapestry. Gain a + 1 on rolls to perform these rituals for each derangement you are currently afflicted with. Suffer a -2 penalty on rolls to preform these rituals without the DHC or Disillusioned merits. | Exert influence over emotion, the mind, darkness, knowledge, time, space and immortality. |
| Chaos | Harness the power of pure chaos. Failed attempts of chaos spells still have an effect but not the intended effects. | Have influence over fate, reaction, emotion, weather and entropy. |
| Fell | Call forth power from the Deep. Use of these rituals corrupts the user and the surrounding areas. Ritual performers must always make an Ego or Morality roll and the ritual distorts reality in 5 meters x dots of ritual in evil ways. | Use the deep energy to have power over influence, contracts, negative emotion, strength, corruption, sexuality and pride. |
| Spirit | Gain aid from the entities and energies of the spirit world. Receive a -5 penalty on these ritual when you do not have some form of spirit sight. Failure always runs the risk of angering a spirit. | Use these rituals to influence spirits and the things those spirits have influence over. |
Burdens
The Second thing a player must do when designing a Discipline is choosing at least two(up to 10) Burdens which must describe the actions required to perform rituals in the associated Discipline. A Theban witch must stick within the Burdens of Circle Magic, Altered State, Astrological, Community and Sacrifice when performing a ritual. Additional Burdens may be chosen to reduce the cost of a Ritual in this discipline by one step.

Weaving a Discipline
To enable others to use and write new rituals into a Discipline you must first weave it into the Tapestry just like the rituals themselves. This costs either one point of a player’s G,M,S or for a Ritual to be created and performed with an increased Burden cost of one and the cast length of this Ritual is increased by one step.
