Desmos - apexevolved/site GitHub Wiki

These beings are those who acquire great power as a side effect of some massive detriment and unlike their counterparts they have some weaknesses that cannot be overcome. They are the cursed. This curse can take any form. Sometimes they may lose control when certain triggers are met, or not be able to take certain actions. They might not be able to turn their power off like Cyclops or Rouge. They might have a permanent tormentor like Ghost Rider. It may come in the form of crippling disfigurement, such as blindness, a monstrous appearance or being bound to a wheelchair. These downsides stem from the same source as their powers and almost always cannot be bypassed, mediated, or negated without also negating the benefits gained.
Nickname: The Cursed
Favored Powers: Passive
Character creation: Desmos are cursed, damned, warped and diseased. It is through these afflictions that they find ultimate power. They are generally tortured and weather that turns them to evil or make them the hero it tends to define them. They are strongest when their curse is strong. Desmos are most commonly derive their power from source.
Archetype Bonus: In the case of the Desmos there curse is also part of the strength they draw upon. At character creation or upon becoming a Desmos the play chooses and describes a curse that ranges from (• to •••••) at the choice of the player. Each dot represents a separate Hitch which the player chooses and the curse is also formed with a curse breaking condition that is chosen by the storyteller. A Desmos can link a number of her powers to her curse equal to the number of dots in that curse and these drawbacks cannot be overcome or removed without the intervention of another appropriate power. This method is achieved by having lower power cost with less drawbacks. As an additional benefit, the power linked to this curse has a reduced cost of 1 x dots less than normal.(This does stack with their favored power cost.)
Weakness: Desmos are imbued with a natural sense of pessimism that, even if not seen on the surface, is always plaguing their psyche. As a result of this they cannot receive benefits of moral based bonuses.(exsample: Siren, who has the power to raise spirits with her voice, sings a song for her allies providing them a bonus or their roles. Most of the heros receive the bonus while the desmos thinks to herself “will someone shut her up” and receives no bonus.
Concepts: Dr.Jekyll and Mr.Hyde, Undead, Tortured Super Hero, Beast man.
Stereotypes Alphas: There egoistic nature of alphas tends to disgust the Desmos.
Omegas: Desmos have been burned in the past so in the case of Omegas they tend to be wary until they are sure of them to be an ally and not someone trying to use or burn them.
