App store

The easiest way to install AnkiDroid is via your favorite app-store:

Get it on Google Play Get it on F-Droid Get it on Amazon app store Get it on Huawei app gallery

If these links don't work, open the Google Play application on your device, search for "anki", then in the results click on "AnkiDroid", and then on "Install".

APK

  1. Choose the desired version:
  1. Download the apk with your stock browser

  2. Click on the downloaded .apk, and install

Note: On Android 7 and below, you need to allow installation of non-Market applications in main Android settings

Note: If installation fails for some reason, try uninstalling AnkiDroid, rebooting, and try again.

Note: Syncing with AnkiWeb is no longer supported on versions < 2.3.2

Uninstalling

  1. Go to the Android settings, then "Applications", then "Manage applications"
  2. Look for "AnkiDroid"
  3. Click on "AnkiDroid" and then on "Uninstall"
  4. Confirm that you want to uninstall clicking on "OK"

Beta / Alpha Releases

You can also access the latest beta or alpha version on Google Play

  • Open Google Play and use the options menu on the AnkiDroid app details screen to participate in the beta program
  • For the alpha program involves the extra step of joining the alpha testers google group - you will receive no messages but joining signals to Google that you should receive alpha releases as we publish them
  • To get a beta or alpha update with no delay instead of waiting, may manually tap the button to scan for updates in the Google Play Store app on your device, then update via the update button in the list of app updates found (not in the app details section).
  • To leave the program you will need to reverse the above steps, then uninstall and reinstall AnkiDroid

Release Compatibility

  • 2.15+ will require Android 5.0 or greater (Lollipop, API21)
  • 2.9-alpha releases are forwards and backwards compatible with 2.8.4
  • 2.9+ will require Android 4.0.3 or greater (Ice Cream Sandwich, API15)
  • 2.8.4 requires Android 2.3.7 or greater (Gingerbread, API10)
