వీరధవళ — ద్వితీయ భాగము: Vocabulary Glossary

Source: వ_రధవళ02_త_ల_యద__FULL.txt (companion file to Veeradhavala_Part2_OCR_Analysis.md)

Scope note: This glossary is drawn from the passages I have actually read closely — the opening chapters, the table of contents, and roughly two dozen sampled passages spread across the trial, escape, execution/rescue, and epilogue sections (well over 1,000 lines of running text in total, though not the full ~5,480-line file). It is a genuine working vocabulary of the novel's language, not a mechanical word-count of every OCR token — the scan contains many single-character fragments and noise-words that aren't real vocabulary and are excluded. Entries are normalized past the common OCR letter-confusions described in Section 2 of the companion analysis file (e.g. వఏరధవళుడు is listed under వీరధవళుడు). Words are grouped by theme, then roughly alphabetically within each group, with the base/dictionary form given even when the text uses an inflected form.

Notes on usage

  • Many verbs above appear in the text with archaic/literary narrative-past endings in -enu (e.g. చేసెను, పలికెను, వచ్చెను) — this is the standard storytelling past tense of older literary Telugu prose, distinct from the spoken-Telugu past tense.
  • Several nouns appear compounded in the text in ways modern readers may find dense (e.g. దుర్గరక్షకుడు = దుర్గ + రక్షకుడు, "fort" + "protector"). Where useful, the table breaks these down.
  • This list will grow accurately, not just longer, if pointed at specific unread chapters — for example chapters 4–5 (నిరానందుడు మరియు వృద్ధవనచరి; సొరంగము తాళముచేతులు) or chapters 19–21 (స్వామి ఆనందాచార్యులు; సత్యాశ్రయుని వారిపాటు; కారాగారములోని సర్వాంగసమర్పణము) would add courtroom-adjacent and monastic vocabulary not yet fully sampled here. Happy to extend the glossary chapter-by-chapter on request.
