Important Info

  • To insert an ip address on a pc in packet tracer: press the pc, go to config, then press fastethernet0. insert the ip address where it says IPv4 Address

Questions

  1. To set a gateway address on a workstation in Packet Tracer: press the pc, go to config, press settings on the left hand side, and insert the gateway address where it says Default Gateway
  2. To set the IP and subnet mask on different interfaces of a multilayer switch: press the multilayer switch, go to config, there will be lots of FastEthernet's on the left hand side under Interface. For PC0, go to FastEthernet0/1, then enter the ip address under IPv4 Address. For the next pc, go to FastEthernet0/2 and so on.
  3. To enter simulation mode in packet tracer: There is a button in the bottom right corner that says Simulation. Press that then click the Show All/None button at the bottom of that window. Next to that button there will be an Edit Filters button that you want to click. In the next window that pops up, check off the box that says ICMP.
  4. To set which type of packets you want to see in Simulation Mode: go to command prompt in a pc, ping the ip address that you want, then press play on the simulation.
