Most of the mentioned cards can only be bought second-hand, as they are 20 years or older. Another drawback is, that they only have a PCI interface, whereas current motherboards have PCI-E only. But there is good news. On Aliexpress the BT8x8 and CX2388x cards can be bought as PCI-E version. They have a PCI to PCI-E bridge on board.

Having PCI-E, those cards can also be used in ARM devices that have a PCI-E slot, like the Quartz64 model A from Pine64.

Some pretty recent motherboards can have issues recognizing these cards and get stuck in POST. Solution unknown. This experience was made with a recent AM5 board.
