Time management techniques

Pomodoro Technique

The Pomodoro Technique is a time management system that encourages people to work with the time they have—rather than against it.

  • Break your workday into 25-minute chunks separated by 5-minute breaks.
  • These intervals are referred to as pomodoros.
  • After about 4 pomodoros, you take a longer break of about 15 to 20 minutes.

Eisenhower's Urgent/Important Principle

  1. Important and Urgent
    • Ones that you could not have foreseen, and others that you've left until the last minute.
    • Leave some time in your schedule to handle unexpected issues and unplanned important activities.
  2. Important but Not Urgent
    • These are the activities that help you achieve your personal and professional goals, and complete important work.
  3. Not Important but Urgent
    • Are things that prevent you from achieving your goals.
    • Ask yourself whether you can reschedule or delegate them.
  4. Not Important and Not Urgent
    • You can simply ignore or cancel many of them.
