SoftRF WebTop Serial is an extremely low budget (less than 5 USD) Wi-Fi Wireless Access Point add-on, which is applicable for almost every of wired SoftRF Editions, such as:
1 - unlike other Editions, Raspberry one have no support of NMEA remote control feature at this time.
The WebTop Serial provides a Web interface and data transport to:
- monitor status of connected SoftRF device , and
- change settings , and
- deliver own position and air traffic data from the SoftRF device to a smartphone/tablet by UDP over Wi-Fi.
The WebTop is based upon a third-party's hardware - "Serial WiFi" adapter, which is available for purchase from numerous online webstores:
In general a lot of Chinese DIY electronics manufacturers are known to behave this way:
- sometimes they may not apply necessary Q.C. before releasing of a product from factory ;
- they may arbitrary change schematics and electronic components from one batch to the next one ;
- they may terminate manufacturing of a board just few month after initial production.
Because of that, author of SoftRF:
- will reject any hardware related claims associated with "Serial WiFi" adapter. Ask for support from seller or manufacturer ;
- reserves the right to suspend or terminate support of "Serial WiFi" adapter in the firmware at any time.
If you have issues with bringing up your new "Serial WiFi" adapter or just not happy with the board - be prepared to execute your Purchase Protection plan.

In order to install the SoftRF WebTop Serial firmware into the "Serial WiFi adapter" at first time - you will need to utilize a USB to serial converter.
