Browse people

The People index displays every individual in your open family tree, providing search, sorting, and filtering capabilities. You open this screen to find specific people, review their basic details, and navigate to their full records.

What you see

The command bar at the top holds actions for managing individuals, including New person, Edit Person, Delete, Merge Selected, and Columns, alongside the sort direction toggle and the Surname starts with… filter box.

The main table lists individuals in your tree across columns for names, sex, birth dates, birth places, death dates, death places, personas, sources, and identification numbers.

Common tasks

Find a person

1. Type the start of a surname in the Surname starts with… box.
2. Scan the table rows to locate the individual.

Add a new person

1. Select New person.
2. Select the new row in the table to open the editor.

Edit a person

1. Select the check box next to the person in the table.
2. Select Edit Person.

Delete people

1. Select the check boxes next to the people you want to remove.
2. Select Delete.
3. Select Delete in the confirmation dialog.

Change visible columns

1. Select Columns.
2. Choose the columns you want to display or hide in the column dialog.

Good to know

Column selections are saved automatically to your local storage.
