Old V2 Home - alanbjohnston/CubeSatSim GitHub Wiki

This wiki page is for the old experimental V2 hardware and software for the CubeSatSim.

The new version uses a Raspberry Pi Pico or Pico W processor instead of the difficult to find Raspberry Pi Zero or Zero 2 processor.

As a result, the boards are all new and the software is also all new.

The V2 CubeSatSim has three boards:

  • Pico board - this replaces the original STEM Payload board. The Pico or Pico W plugs into this board. This board also replaces the CubeSatSim Lite board

  • Solar board - this replaces the original Main board. The INA219 current and voltage sensors are on this board.

  • Batt board - this replaces the original Battery board. The board use four NiMH AA cells, and supplies power through the GPIO header, so no JST jumper cable is needed.

The Pico and Solar boards can be built with through-hole or SMD components. Here are the instructions for building the through-hole PCBs (note this assumes a few SMD components have been mounted on the Pico board):

Here are the instructions for building the SMD version:
