FIABv4 Beta - alanbjohnston/CubeSatSim GitHub Wiki
This page is about the beta Fox-in-a-Box v4 Beta image which is under development.
You can find the latest Raspberry Pi disk image here: https://cubesatsim.org/download/fiabv4-beta.iso.zip
Here is a readme file for the image: https://cubesatsim.org/download/How%20To%20Set%20Up%20Fox-in-a-Box-V4.pdf
This is image can be written to a 16GB SD card or larger using, for example, BalanaEtcher https://etcher.balena.io
The username is pi and the password is raspberry
The image is based on Pi OS 32 bit Bookworm. It has been tested on a Pi 5 and a Pi 4. It supports the RTL-SDR USB dongle v3 and the FunCube Dongle Pro+. It also has support for RTL-SDR v4 in OpenWebRX, Direwolf, QSSTV, and CubicSDR (FoxTelem v1.12 does NOT support the v4 dongle).
It has the following software:
- FoxTelem - decodes telemetry from AMSAT CubeSats in orbit and decodes CubeSatSim FSK and BPSK telemetry.
- OpenWebRX+ - a Web SDR that loads automatically on boot. Starts in 70cm band for CubeSatSim but you can change bands. Has a built in APRS packet decoder and a new SSTV decoder. You can configure it using a web interface. Click on the Settings icon on the right then enter the username admin password raspberry
- QSSTV - for decoding SSTV images. Runs automatically after selecting the frequency.
- Direwolf - for decoding APRS packets. Runs automatically after selecting the frequency.
- SDR++ - an open source general purpose SDR which has the same user interface in Windows and Mac as on the Pi. Just click the Play triangle icon in the top left to start.
- CubicSDR - another general purpose SDR
- FunCube Telem - a new experimental decoder for the CubeSatSim FunCube mode 7 which sends camera images and telemetry data.
- RTL-TCP - an application for accessing an RTL-SDR dongle across a network.
