Standards Call 2021-01

Topics

  • Welcome Katharina Imkeller, Kira Neller, Nicole Knoetze, and Ulrik Stervbo!
  • We will setup a new mailing list opt-in for GDPR compliance and cleanup of the mailing list post-merger. We will drop everyone from the airr-standards mailing list and have people re-enroll, notifying the airr-standards and airr-datarep lists. The airr-datarep list will be disabled after the switch.
  • We will move formal minutes to GitHub. MiniStd minutes are [here](https://github.com/airr-community/airr-standards/blob/ministd_minutes/docs/standards/minutes_ministd.rst).
  • @schristley will setup a subgroup to knuckle down and make progress on DataProcessing.
  • The ComRepo manuscript will be separate from the Standards manuscript and focus on a user view of the AIRR Data Commons.
  • The Standards manuscript will combine the single-cell extension to MiAIRR alongside the other standards changes since v1.3 into a unified standards paper. This will require a rewrite. We will get agreement on the scope in the next call and tie the manuscript to v2.0.
  • OpenAPI V3 may break backwards compatibility. Proposed that we maintain V2 and V3 in separate files, with AIRR Standards v1.4 introducing OpenAPI V3, AIRR Standards v2.0 deprecating OpenAPI V2, then maintain both for a while (until AIRR Standards v3.0?).
  • We should focus on the work we have this year over new areas. The "new stuff" exceptions being hammering out DataProcessing, Repertoire Grouping and Manifest.
  • Some discussion on identifiers; how to structure to source identifiers (repository, repertoire, etc) and when/if to use an official PID format.
  • Think of v1.4 as v1.3 wishlist and push the v1.4 release out as soon as we can.
  • We should tag issues/PRs with appropriate milestones and projects.
  • Ask the Comms group if they can help with outreach.
