To run the Engine throttle control unit (ETM), I'll be using EspressIF Systems ESP32 C3 microcontroller a single core Xtensa LX7 Core Processor running at 160MHz with 400Kb RAM. This MCU has wireless radio capabilities that are disabled on the hardware electronics itself for safety concerns.

In regards to safety against theft the electronics will include a cryptographic IC that will be used to match the car owner's VIN number and with all other open hardware electronic components installed on a vehicle. In practical terms, this means, that in the event of theft, to make a specific open hardware work on another vehicle, it will require the replacement of the main microcontroller processing unit without the need for specialized tools and equipment. This OHE is a direct fit and direct replacement of the factory hardware electronics found on Bosch ETMs. It has more complex electronics with CAN BUS connectivity. It uses 2 hall sensors that output a PWM analog +5V DC signal and it can be programmed using the CANBUS to match the sensor specifications of the vehicle where is going to be installed. This means is compatible with any open-source ECU such as Speeduino and many others.

This PCB is being sold fully assembled, and ready to be installed on the buyer's Volvo ETM. Mind you this electronics is not compatible with the Volvo factory electronics. It is compatible with open hardware solutions such as speeduino, the open ECU available on this project, and many other open ECUs.
