Welcome to Imouto Viewer. The software began development in 2006 with the idea that a system built entirely from off-the-shelf hardware could write a user's diary for them. Nearly two decades later, it's still not finished, but does have a lot of functionality that you may find useful, particularly if, like me, you are increasingly worried about big faceless companies in other countries having too much control over your personal information.
The software is written in Python using the Django web framework, and runs in a browser. It is designed to be installed on a Raspberry Pi, and consequently doesn't require a great deal of computing power. You will, however, need some other software and hardware in order to get the full benefit of Imouto.
- A database (although if you're brave you can use SQL Lite)
- An instance of Imouto Location Manager
- A calendar with CalDAV support
- An address book with CardDAV support
- A Pebble smartwatch
- A Garmin smartwatch/health tracker
- An automated home full of sensors connected to Home Assistant
- An OpenWeatherMap API key
- A MapBox API key
- An OpenStreetMap tile server (or access to one)
- A Letterboxd account
