Feature Spec UI: Icon bar - adobe-photoshop/spaces-design GitHub Wiki
Overview
The icon bar is the tall-and-thin panel at the right edge of the screen.
The icon bar is only visible when the UI is NOT in single-column mode (Window > Single-Column Mode).
When a document is open, the icon bar has two icons up top that correspond to the visibility of the properties column and the layers/libraries column.
The icon bar always has a bottom icon to return to standard Photoshop icon, even in No Doc State.
The top icons should be active (blue) iff their corresponding panel is expanded. The bottom PS icon should always be enabled but inactive.
The tooltips of the top two icons should indicate that the column will be expanded or collapsed according to its current state.
Basic operation
Single-click the first top icon to hide or show the properties column.
Single-click the second top icon to hide or show the layers/libraries column.
Single-click the bottom icon to return to standard Photoshop.
Advanced operation
Command-click (or alt-click on Windows) either button to toggle the visibility of both columns at once. This means if one column is open, the visible column should be swapped; if two columns are open, both should close; and if zero columns are open then both should open.
Notes
The bottom icon should return to standard Photoshop even in a modal tool state (e.g., while editing text)
In the past there have been bugs with using cmd-tab to switch away from or back to Design Space causing the command key to be "stuck" on or off, so this would be a good thing to test.
