Feature Spec Panel: Effects - adobe-photoshop/spaces-design GitHub Wiki

Canvas Interactions

  • Effects are not accounted for with layer bounds. In other words, if a drop shadow extends 10 pixels beyond the border of a shape, clicking or mousing over the drop shadow that lies outside the shape will not select the shape nor show a blue layer highlight.

Modifiers

  • Shift + arrow up/down: in fields will increment/decrement by 10.

Panel Interactions

  • If a layer(s) is(are) selected, the Effects panel will appear below the Appearance panel. If no layer is selected, the Effects panel is not visible at all, including the header.
  • Double-clicking on the panel header will collapse/expand the panel.
  • Plus icon: Clicking this icon will reveal a drop down list of supported effects that can be applied; Stroke, Color Overlay, Inner Shadow, Drop Shadow. Selecting one of these from the drop down will apply that effect with default settings to the selected layer(s).
  • Copy icon: With any layer selected, clicking this icon will copy all associated effects with that layer to the clipboard (even if there are none, which, in combination with the paste icon can be a quick and easy way to remove all applied effects from any other layer without having to delete each one individually). If multiple layers are selected, clicking this icon will not copy anything to the clipboard.
  • Paste icon: This icon will only be enabled when there is a copied Effect on the clipboard. Clicking this icon will apply the copied effect to the targeted layer(s) and over-write/remove any existing effects.
  • Supported Effects: Stroke (this is different from vector stroke that is in the Appearance panel in that it can be applied to layers other than shape layers and up to 10 can be created), Color Overlay, Inner Shadow, Drop Shadow.
  • The maximum number of any one effect that can be applied is 10 (10 drop shadows, 10 inner shadows, etc).
  • Unsupported Effects: Effects that are created and/or saved in documents via standard Photoshop will be represented in Design Space but without editable attributes and under a sub-title "Unsupported". You can toggle their visibility and individually delete them.
