The U.S. Geological Survey ScienceBase API uses sbJSON for metadata exchange. Much of the ScienceBase Project Documentation is behind a firewall and will not be accessible to many users.

FWS Discovery Metadata

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has established a minimum set of discovery-level metadata elementsrequired elements for use in describing projects and products. An initial crosswalk is available that compares the FWS standard to the Project Open Data (DCAT-US) and Dublin Core elements.
