Initial Stakeholder Challenges - ademeglio/the-frontline GitHub Wiki

March 27, 2020 Call with Mike C. who originally brought the idea to Can't Stop Columbus

A little background. This idea was originally discussed by a panel discussing technology and social workers (SW) back in early February 2020 hosted by the Columbus Foundation. National Association of Social Workers, Ohio Chapter.

The panel discussed the current challenges that social workers face.

  • There is no easy way to connect to others outside of their current employer.
  • There is no easy way to communicate within their own agency.
  • There is no easy way to communicate outside of their own agency.
  • Everyone is in silos

One thing Mike mentioned was that this project was not necessarily intended to be about the SW own mental health.

Important notes:

  • The stakeholders are not in front of a computer most of the day. They are on their mobile phones. Merry mentioned that staffing has become a challenge, so that holds true to a lot more staff than usual.
  • Mike was concerned about a forum setting. Similar to our concerns regarding the use of Slack.
  • Need to be able to ping a channel.

Example statement:

I have a problem at hospital A and need someone at hospital B. I jump into hospital B channel and post my need.

Stake Holders:

  • Social Workers working at health Agencies, hospitals.
