New Technologies FINAL EXAM: DUE MAY 14th (last day of class) Weight: 25%

I. Submission instructions [please read everything carefully]:

  • Your completed exam is due MAY 14TH in class AND uploaded to the website. Both are due by 6:30 PM sharp.

  • Title your digital file with your name and ‘final exam’!! It should be in either .doc, or .pages. format. PDF’s are not accepted. Files not titled or saved in correct format will lose two points.

  • Your digital file should be uploaded to your repository by 6:30pm. If you experience an issue uploading, contact me asap or send your file via email.

  • You must come to class to hand in a printed & stapled copy of your completed exam on MAY 14TH. These are due at 6:30pm sharp. Your digital file should be already uploaded, and the print handed in completes the submission. Late exams (of either format past I will be in our usual classroom only until 7pm to accept these.

II. Late submissions:

  • Exams submitted after 6:30pm on 5/14 will lose two points. Anyone who misses the time window ending at 7pm will automatically lose 5 points (one letter grade). It will be your responsibility to drop off your printed exam in my mailbox in the Media Studies Dept as soon as possible.

  • Exams will drop one letter grade for every day it is late. Submitting after 7pm on MAY 14th counts as a day late. This will go until MAY 15TH at 6:30, MAY 16TH @ 6:30, etc. No exams will be accepted after MAY 20.

III. Essay instructions:

  • The final exam is a take-home test. You may use notes from the course, lectures, readings, presentations, screenings, and your own research.

  • There are three essay questions, each requiring a 500-word (min) response. Respond to all three essay questions/topics.

  • The exam is a Word doc. Please type directly into the doc after each question.

  • You must add a cover page. Enter your name, the course, and the date in the cover page.

  • You must include citations. Add these in the last page and list them in association to the essay number. Citations should be in MLA format.

It is absolutely crucial to properly cite sources for any information you give that is not common knowledge. Not doing so is considered plagiarism and will result receiving a reduced grade, a failing grade for the exam, or a failing grade for the course, depending on the severity.

IV. Grading: You will be graded on the following:

  • Accurate and thoughtful responses
  • Pinpointing issues
  • Supporting points by use of case study and/or examples from one of our readings, lectures, presentations, screenings, outside research, etc.
  • Correct citation and following instructions
  • Spelling and Grammar
  • Essay length (500 words minimum for each)

Only the following grades will be administered: A, A–, B+, B, B–, C+, C, C–, D, F

I will return your exam via email with your grades from the second half listed in the last page. Your final grade for the course will be posted on CUNYfirst on or before MAY 30th.
