About Subtitles - addictedtoscreens/torrentexpander GitHub Wiki
Nowadays, most subtitles downloading apps can rely on the video file hash to find the correct subtitles match.
But many subtitles databases don't support this video file hash and rely only on the filename of the video file.
That's where the new subtitles_handling introduced in v0.14 of torrentexpander comes into play.
This feature archives in the torrentexpander_subtitles_dir directory a dummy (0k) video file with the original video filename.
These dummy files can be used by a third party app to fetch subtitles on websites that do not support hash.
On each run, Torrentexpander will look for new srt files in the torrentexpander_subtitles_dir directory and copy them automatically to your destination folder.
-
Once a new srt is found, the original dummy file is deleted
-
If a dummy video file is older than a month, it will be automatically deleted
-
If torrentexpander is used as a Workflow Service for Mac OS X, this feature will be disabled
