Kodi settings that influence VRT NU

Various Kodi settings affect how the VRT NU add-on behaves.

Interface improvements

Show parent folder items (filelists.showparentdiritems)

If you have a remote with a proper Back button, there is no need to have Parent folder items (those .. entries) in your menu listings and the add-on looks much better if every screen has fanart and thumbnails. So we suggest you disable this default setting:

Settings » Media » General » Show parent folder items

This setting may affect other add-ons.

Show "All items" entry (videolibrary.showallitems)

Included in v1.10.0

In Kodi one can enable "All items" entries and the VRT NU add-on adheres to this setting.

Settings » Interface » Videos » Show "All items" entries

If this is enabled you get an All seasons item in the season overview for easier browsing.

Show media flags (Estuary skin) (hide_mediaflags)

The add-on shows more useful information (like channel flags and aired-date) to media listings if you enable this Estuary skin setting:

Settings » Interface » Skin » Configure skin... » General » Show media flags

NOTE: Due to an issue with the default Estuary skin no channel icons are being displayed, we have a fix that you may want to apply yourself manually to get this functionality: https://github.com/xbmc/xbmc/pull/16298) This fix will ship with Kodi v19 (Matrix).

Network-related

Internet connection bandwidth limitation (network.bandwidth)

Included in v1.10.0

If you have a network bandwidth limit configured in Kodi, the VRT NU add-on will select a stream that adheres to your bandwidth requirements. Read more on the Bandwidth page.

Use proxy server (network.usehttpproxy)

Included in v1.7.0

If you have a proxy server configured in Kodi, the VRT NU add-on will be using this proxy. Read more on the Proxy page.

Regional

Language (locale.language)

The VRT NU add-on supports Dutch and English as interface languages. You can change the interface language in the Kodi settings menu:

Settings » Interface » Regional » Language

Date and time (locale.timezone)

Please ensure that you set the correct date and time on your Kodi device or operating system to enjoy a flawless experience with the VRT NU add-on.

In Kodi you have to set the correct timezone for your country:

Settings » Interface » Regional » Timezone country

System-related

Debug logging (debug.showloginfo)

While the add-on has its own logging treshold to increase the verbosity of the add-on for troubleshooting, the add-on also adheres to the global Kodi debug.showloginfo setting.

In Kodi you have to enable debug logging:
