What is it?

• Internet Protocol Version 4 is a "connectionless protocol used in packet-switched layer networks" to provide a "logical connection between network devices by providing identification for each device." IPv4 can be configured manually and automatically depending on the network.

How to Configure in Windows 10

• go to control panel
• click 'Network and Internet'
• click 'Network and Sharing Center'
• click on 'Ethernet #'
• click 'Properties'
• Find Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)
• Then choose automatically or manually
• If manually, apply the IP address as needed

Used in the Lab

• This furthers my understanding of the lab because we manually configured to IP address to connect to the firewall we created. We set the IP address to 10.0.5.100, subnet mask to 255.255.255.0 and the default gateway to 10.0.5.2.
