Meeting Log - acy005/Team-19 GitHub Wiki

Tuesday, January 24: Our group’s first meeting. Christopher Atwood was not yet assigned to our group so he was not at this meeting. We decided to make a game where the player starts in the middle of a square map. First one enemy will appear from one of the four sides, once the player kills that enemy, two more enemies will appear. One enemy will appear from the original side, the second from a different side. Enemies will continuously spawn until the player dies.

Thursday, January 26: Christopher Atwood joined our group. Brett Gregory was sick this day and could not join us. We discussed creating a Flash game as well as continued discussing how our game would work. We are still trying to figure out a winning condition.

Saturday, January 28: Tarik Batchelor could not come because he had a track meet. Michael Montgomery provided an image he created in Microsoft Paint about what the game would look like. After much further discussion, everyone finally agreed that we are definitely all going to get Flash and create the game using it.

We decided to instead create a turn-based game in the style of Final Fantasy Tactics and chess. It will be click and move, with a medieval theme, and the enemies will be sprites. Michael Montgomery’s mother is a composer, so we may eventually ask for her help in implementing music. Annabelle Young’s friend Carson Smith (Art Major, Graphic Design concentration) has agreed to assist us in designing our game pieces. Each player will pick five pieces; neither player will know what the other player is picking. Each piece will have a flat damage and flat health. The less health a piece has, the more damage that piece will do.

For our first release we will have one game piece – a knight. Christopher Atwood and Tarik Batchelor will design a basic board to be our map. Brett Gregory and Michael Montgomery will design the interface for our game. Annabelle Young will work with Carson Smith to design the concepts and specifications for the pieces. Our toolkit is Flash. It will likely take about 3 weeks before we are ready for our first release.
