1. Solar Analysis

1.1. Summary

Solar Analysis[SCaos] is a Revit addin that will rotate one, or many isometric views so that each view's camera is at the location of the sun.

Main dialog.

1.2. Modes

1.2.0.1. Rotate Current View

This mode will rotate the current view (if it is a isometric view).

NOTE: The user needs to set the time, date and location settings before running this.

1.2.0.2. Create Multiple Angle of Sun Views ("Sun Eye Views")

This will automagically create 3d views for the selected date and times. see Multi View Creation Options

New views will be named:

SOLAR ACCESS - *DATE* - *TIME* 

1.2.0.3. Create Multiple Shadow Plans

This will automagically create plans for the selected date and times. see Multi View Creation Options

New plans will be associated with the highest level found in the current mode. Currently users will need to adjust the view range after creation.

New views will be named:

SHADOW PLAN - *DATE* - *TIME* 

1.2.0.4. Create Solar Analysis View

This will attempt to create a nice coloured analysis view.

To enable this option set the sun settings of the current Revit view to be a "Single Day".

1.2.0.5. Create a Raster Solar Analysis View

This will create a nice coloured analysis view. This method uses Revit's in-built shadow creation to output a raster image

To enable this option set the sun settings of the current Revit view to be a "Single Day" and the hours must be from 9am-3pm

1.3. Multi View Creation Options

  • Date
  • Start Time - Note the Sunrise in "Current View Information".
  • End Time - Note the Sunset in "Current View Information".
  • Interval - select between 15min, 30min or 1hr time intervals
