While Virt-A-Mate has an option to configure a parent, it has important limitations. First, it will break your animation (since all keyframes will now be relative to something else), and second, there can be only one parent throughout the whole animation.

Timeline supports per-animation parenting. This means you can have the right hand parented to the head in one animation, and to the hip in another. Also, when blending from one to the other, parenting will smoothly blend from one state to the other.

To configure a parent, go to the targets screen, open the menu for a controller, and select settings
