Getting started - acidbubbles/vam-timeline GitHub Wiki

Ready to build your first animation? Here's a very basic walkthrough to get you started.

  1. In the targets screen (which should be selected by default), you should see an Add/Remove Targets button. This allows you to select targets, in other words, what you want to animate. Let's select a controller (Animate controller) and press Add Controller. You can add many if you want. They will show up in the dope sheet on the left, with two keyframes. The first one (which is the current position of the controller), and the last one (for looping animations, it'll always be the same as the first one).
  2. Go to the edit screen. You can then use the scrubber to move the animation time. Move it in the middle, and move the controllers you have enabled in the previous step to a new position and rotation.
  3. Now play with the scrubber. You can already see your animation moving! You can also use Play to start the animation. By default it will loop and run for 2 seconds, but this can be changed in the edit screen.
  4. If you want to modify your keyframes, use the next / previous frame buttons. This will move the scrubber directly at a frame. You can also select a target or a specific keyframe in the dope sheet to preview the animation curve in game.

There you go! You now know how to add controllers and keyframes! Check out the other help pages for more information on what is possible. Have fun! And if you like it, please consider sponsoring me!
