Launch Wizard

There are a ton of options in Embody, but you might not have the patience to learn them all. So, I've built a nice wizard that walks you through all available options, step by step. Check out the Wizard section for more information on how to use it.

Apply Preset

To make things quicker, there's a preset drop-down when you open Embody's UI. This allows you to quickly select a subset of modules for the purpose you need:

  • Native VaM possession: This is the normal Virt-A-Mate possession. Head geometry will be hidden and the camera will be adjusted so it's better positioned. You need to activate VaM's possession to use this. To be honest, I don't expect anyone to need this.
  • Improved possession: This is the default and recommended preset for most cases. This will adjust eyes "look at" so looking at mirrors will look back, and will adjust the world scale automatically. Use the Setup Wizard to measure your height, otherwise, eye distance will be used instead. This also precisely adjusts eyes to perfectly align with the model.
  • Snug: This further builds on improved possession, but also adds body proportion adjustments to hands, so touching your own body will reflect correctly in the VR world. You must run the Setup Wizard after selecting this mode.
  • Passenger: Instead of you possessing the VR model, the VR model will "possess you". This means that if the VR model is moving, e.g. with Timeline or animation patterns, your VR view will move. This can be an extremely satisfying experience, but can also make some people sick. Only try this if you are comfortable with VR camera movement.

Modules

There are many modules that you can use, depending on what you're looking for; the toggle will enable it, and the Configure button will allow you to tweak them.

  • World scale is responsible for scaling the world so your height matches the in-game person height.
  • Hide geometry will hide any clothing, geometry and hair from the VR camera.
  • Offset camera is only used with the native VaM possession to move the camera in relation to the head.
  • Passenger will have YOU following the model's movements, for some people, it may induce terrible nausea...
  • Trackers is responsible for tracking your head, hands and Vive trackers. It also integrates with Leap Motions for position and/or fingers.
  • Eye target is responsible for controlling the eyes so they look back when you look in a mirror
  • Snug identifies the VR model proportions, and displace the VR hands so they fit your own body. For example, touching your navel in reality should also touch the VR model navel, even though it may have different proportions.
