A discussion took place among the members of the Accord Project in which we brainstormed features for the AP Word add-in, and then sorted them by whether we want the feature to be available to users in the short term vs long term.

We then further divided the features into three categories:

Stage 1 - short term - we know we will build this

  • View AP templates
  • Add clause templates to contract and assign value to variables
  • save their document with clauses
  • share their document with clauses
  • Work is save in doc
  • import template CTA
  • Ensure all data is in the document when saved
  • Edit variable values
  • Parse text on variable value change
  • Controlled Variable Editing
  • Roundtrip data using markdown-transform
  • Open template in Word from templates.accordproject.org

Stage 2 - medium term - we think we will build this

  • Import natural language templates from online legal resources
  • Guided tour of AP in Word
  • Guided tour of add-in
  • Marketplace Install
  • Auto open on startup
  • Export document as markdown?

  • Bulk Variable Update
  • Import /Export to Accord template library

Stage 3 - long term - we might build this

  • edit clause template and save as new template
  • create new clause templates
  • As LE, I don’t want to context switch to make a template in contract
  • Dates in contract can be saved in calendar
  • As laywer, I want to export to VSCdode if needed
  • Detect [variables]
  • Import into VSCode
