Talking about Final - Open everything practical test.
-certs - Book is going for overarching linux cert, decent. Servers or Desktop work? Desktops are more chaotic. Server work is more competitive but is barely managed disaster.
Respected certs are linux+ (desktop) or Redhat (server) cert,
