The history of the BeanBot is:

• I used to work at CAEN (the Information Technology group for the University of Michigan’s College of Engineering)
• CAEN Steering Meetings always start with espresso from the Gaggia automatic machine in the Executive Director’s office, but sometimes we ran out of beans
• we needed an alert to know when we were low on beans
• I had the time and interest to build a BeanBot

The future of the BeanBot is:

• a web interface
• more lights
• port to another, even simpler, platform
• move to Docker on RaspberryPi for even more simplicity
• abandon it and halt all development
• make it tiny and package it and get funded on Kickstarter and sell it and be rich
