Resource Discovery - abstractfactory/pipi GitHub Wiki
Resources are accessed either by hand or through an intermediary.
An intermediary allows for finer control over how things appear, what is visible when - such as context sensitivity - and access to relevant data - such as metadata - where it matters. Pipi facilitates resource discovery via its decentralised mechanism for identification.

Asset Browser
The asset browser facilitates rapid locating of various assets across an organisation and features context-sensitivity and customisation via metadata on a per-resource basis.
Cosmetics
Using metadata - apply cosmetics, hide or append virtual items. For instance, User A may not see a certain set of items, whereas another might. User B might have special items associated with him, in the Animation department for example.
Arbitrary tagging and categories (planned)
Sort and filter items based on metadata (cQuery)
Merging (planned)
Append contents of arbitrary hierarchies to directories. Such as looking at assets from multiple projects at once; either for performance benefits or working with a project split up into multiple smaller projects.
Junction (planned)
Re-direct directories to arbitrary locations. Perhaps constraints forces you to structure your directories in a manner not particularly logical or pretty. With junctions you can skip or re-route directories to make it more logical and pleasing to the eye.
Bookmarks (planned)
Tag common locations for faster access
Tabs (planned)
Navigate multiple locations at once, like Chrome
