Abstract
Securing a home network security is during a time of remote learning and working is vitally important. Without proper security protocols, sensitive information can be easily accessible by malicious individuals over the internet. By monitoring a home network with a SIEM on a Cloud System, internet traffic information from the use of video and online learning platforms can be recorded. This capstone project is an investigation into home network security with the increased use of these platforms during the COVID-19 Pandemic, looking for any anomalies that might signal security problems.

Problem Statement
Everyone is now putting more time and information into the Internet with virtual meeting and learning management platforms, and malicious individuals have found more creative ways to gain access to sensitive information. Not all know how to increase their security on their home network, nor while they’re on the internet in general, but educating people about it is even more important than usual during this time. Individuals and their families have the right to know if a malicious person has access to their personal information.

Purpose Statement
The reason this matters: virtual meeting platforms run on school administrator platforms - once you access this, you can access all sorts of other things on the servers. What do you know about video meeting software and the attacks that people have had? Zoom Bombing is an obvious thing to mention. Does Zoombombing indicate that someone can access personal Zoom accounts too, or just meetings? If they know what they’re doing, then yes! Other terrifying things: they can get your IP address, and then trace it back to a physical location. They can take over your computer’s camera. This can cause serious issues for users and companies, so it is important to expand the research into the security of the home network to learn more about the security of virtual meeting and learning management platforms.
