Creating the HA Network on ESXi
Go to the ESXi host management UI. Log in as root and select Networking from the navigator.
Click on Add port group and type in the port group name (HA in this case). Next, select the vSwitch where you want the port group created or just create a new one. The promiscuous mode may be enabled on the vSwitch to allow inbound and outbound traffic to the rest of the world.
Installing the Active Node

Creating the HA Cluster
First, go to the vCenter UI and log in as [email protected]
- Using the vSphere Web Client, highlight the vCenter Server name in the navigator and select the Configure tab.
- Under Settings, select vCenter HA and click on the Configure button.
- Select the newly created HA network and the Hosts wanting to be used for the Passive and Witness nodes.
- Type in the private HA IP addresses for both the Passive and Witness node.
- Review the configurations. Press Next.
- When ready, press Finish
I unfortunately still couldn't get the project to work so their is no formal demonstration for my environment.
