SyncBack is one option for performing automatic backups of your ABC server database without the need to take the server offline. It supports multiple backup jobs (called profiles) to multiple location types including:

  • Network drives
  • Removable drives (CD/DVD, USB, etc.)
  • Cloud storage (Amazon, Azure, etc.)

SyncBack SE is a lower-cost version that doesn't support CD/DVD as a destination but does support USB drives and network shares.

Recommended setup steps:

  1. Click "Preferences"
  2. Choose "Only show groups and profiles not in groups"
  3. Click "Preferences"
  4. Choose "Double-click action"
  5. Select "Run the profile"
  6. Click "OK"

After installing SyncBack, you may import these profiles to speed up configuration.

Using the profiles:

  1. Unzip the folder and import profiles 1-3.
  2. Import the rest of the profiles.
  3. Right-click "1. ABC Daily Historical Backup" and choose "Modify."
  4. Click "Export" (last item in the list on the left).
  5. Click "Log."
  6. Click "Email log."
  7. Enter the correct info in the "To," "From," and "Subject" fields.
  8. Click "OK" (this will update the other profiles that also have emailing enabled).
  9. Enable profile "3. ABC Backup to Backup Server" and set the correct destination.
  10. Schedule the "ABC Backup (Scheduled - Historical)" group to run at the proper times.
  11. Modify the other profiles as desired.
