TVirl on Fire TV Stick - aarubui/firetvapkmod GitHub Wiki

Account region

If you don't have the Live TV tile in your Fire TV Settings or nothing happens when you press the Guide button on the remote, you may need to change your Amazon account country/region (Content & Devices > Preferences > Country/Region Settings on the Amazon website). Examples of regions supporting Live TV are: United States, United Kingdom, India.

After changing your region, try the following actions (multiple times if necessary) to get your device to accept the change:

  • Settings > Account & Profile Settings > Sync Amazon Content
  • Go to the profile selection screen and re-select your profile
  • Settings > Applications > Manage Installed Applications > Appstore > Clear data
  • Restart your device
  • Factory reset your device as a last resort

Install TVirl app

Modded TVirl APK is available here. Only approved apps can work with Live TV and TVirl is not one of them. So there are different versions of the APK, each being TVirl disguised as a different approved app. TVirl_0.5.3.3_com.sling.apk is TVirl disguised as Sling TV, for example. Choose the version of an app you're not using. If you use Sling TV, don't choose that version.

Choose a version which is on the approved apps list for your account region. The list can be seen at Channel Guide > Menu > Add Channels.

Initial app setup

If you try to set up TVirl by opening the app, you'll get an error message saying "TV App is required".

On the Fire TV's Settings page, go to Live TV > Sync Sources and choose the disguised TVirl. If you installed the Sling TV version, it will appear as "Sling TV".

Sync Sources

You should see TVirl's initial setup screen. Follow Matt Huisman's guide for Live Australian IPTV Channels playlists or use your own playlist.

Start Live TV

After installing the playlist, pressing the "TV!" button will bring up the error message again so don't press it. Instead, use the Guide button on the remote.
