First, if we were to add a badge, we might want to search for what badges might already be related to the competency/competencies with which we're concerned...

I think that there might be a problem at the very first step: searching for Badges might require a competency repository otherwise the curriculum designer might rapidly be overwhelmed with the thousands of Badges of all shapes, colours and contents. This is why I suggest a slightly different conceptual diagram: Conceptual Diagram -Bis (BTW, I don't know whether it's OK to write directly in your wiki Aaron...)

Next, we may choose to add a new badge if the badge we want for the competency about which we're concerned isn't there...

And then we may want to associate known activities (and for the moment I'm thinking xAPI-friendly activities known to an activity registry) with this new badge...
