To create a Group Policy to Map the S:\ drive to the \fs01\sales share for all users in the Sales-Users group; In ad02, go to Group Policy Management and then head to SYS255, then in the Users folder. Right click on it and then go to the "Create a GPO in this domain, and Link it here...", For the name, make it Sales - Mapped Drives and then hit ok. After that, Edit the GPO as the image shows below;

After that, I went to the other tab which was called "Common" and chose these options;

  • Run in logged-on user's security context (user policy option)
  • Item-level targeting

Then, I selected "Targeting" and added "Organizational Unit" as a new item. Following this, I filled in the OU information based on my domain, local users, and OU Users folder. Here is an image of the mapped drive;

A topic that I looked more into in this lab would be what remote administrator tools actually do. Remote administrator tools gives access to administrators control and manage the system remotely and efficiently. It also gives the managers access to view and monitor the CPU usage and memory and diskspace utilization. It is also useful because it simplifies the process and allows the administrator to operate the system from anywhere remotely. It can also provide quicker updates and improvements, ultimately reducing vulnerabilities and security issues.

The following website has helped me significantly as well as Hannelore Sanokklis' Github :)) ; https://activedirectorypro.com/map-network-drives-with-group-policy/
