Board Direction

Board decides:

  1. Which awards to open that year.
  2. Which board member is in charge of their execution/organizing volunteers.
  3. Deadlines for nominations and committee selections.
  4. Award Committees.

Typically volunteers are:

  • Elizabeth (creating webforms)

Nomination deadlines are often late November to allow award committees to confer in December for awarding in early January at TRB AM.

Award committees are typically comprised of a rotating cast of 3 members, with one member rotating off each year and the previous years' awardee rotating on.

Technical Steps

  1. Copy webforms from previous year
  2. Add links to webforms to various award pages on website.
  3. Note awards being open on /awards page and on zephyrtransport homepage banner
  4. Add award committee chair to list of collaborators on the webform so they can see nominees

Decision Process

  1. Nominations and criteria forwarded to award committee chairs.
  2. Committees undertake whatever process they want and the chair forwards selection to Board member in charge by a specified date along with a backup narrative (which will also be used in announcement material)
  3. Board meets to consider and finalize the awards.
  4. Awardees are notified privately so that award

Ceremony

Typically a reception at TRB which has the following outline:

Physical Awards

Have typically been ordered by Rosella XX days in advance of them needing to be ready.

Announcements

  • On twitter after ceremony.
  • On website front page after ceremony.
  • Mailing list after documentation on website and in blog.

Documentation

Summaries of why they won; Interviews with winners if possible.

  • On website award page.
  • On medium blog.
