Summary

In this lab, I learned how to find out certain things about a wireless network in Windows.

New things I learned

  • In this lab, I learned about different aspects of my wireless network and my Wireless card in my laptop.
  • I learned things such as the MAC address of my default gateway, the authentication type of the network I am connected to, and the 802.11 version of my wireless card.
  • I also found out about the receive and transmit rates of my wireless card.

Problems/Issues

  • For this lab, I didn’t run into any problems. It was a straightforward lab, and I had no issues. There was no troubleshooting necessary.

Other useful information

  • For this lab, there was a command that I used that I found very useful. The command that I used was Netsh WLAN show interfaces
  • That command displays the following for the wireless interface:
    • Name
    • Description
    • GUID
    • Physical Address
    • State
    • SSID
    • BSSID
    • Network Type
    • Radio Type
    • Authentication
    • Cypher
    • Connection Mode
    • Channel
    • Receive Rate
    • Transmit Rate
    • Signal
    • Profile
