How do I share a map?
Easy! Once you load a map into the app, simply copy the app URL and then email, tweet, or otherwise share the link with whomever you wish to share your map with. The map URL automatically updates when ever you move forwards or backwards on the timeline, zoom in or out on the map, or move forwards or back in time on the timeline. Hence, the current URL at any time will take a visitor to a snapshot of however you currently see the map.
Creating a map manually.
You can create a map either by going to the app and pressing the create button or by creating a new spreadsheet in Google Drive. Once you have created sheet, place the following values in the columns of the first row. Next, you'll need to publish the Google sheets document to the internet. This will allow others (include the App) to see your your data on the map. Open the document in Google Drive and follow these steps. To publish a file:
Open a document, spreadsheet, presentation, or drawing.
- Click the File menu.
- Select Publish to the Web.
- Click Publish.
#The background of my map is all white! If you wish to include imagery (say from Google Maps) on your map, you must add a Google maps layer to your map using the Add Layer wizard. (Click on the white bar at the top of the page and then click 'add layer')
