π― How to Calibrate Your GunCon2
Before you begin:
- Make sure your GunCon2 lightgun is connected via USB.
- Connect the Composite video input to your CRT.
- Power on your display.
β Start the Calibration Tool
- Launch the GunCon2 Calibration Tool from EmulationStation.
- Make sure the GunCon2 is connected and your display is ready.
Start from EmulationStation
π Initial Calibration Screen
When the tool launches, youβll see the initial GunCon2 calibration screen.
To begin:
- Aim the GunCon2 at your screen.
- Press the trigger once to start.
π― Aim at the Targets
After pulling the trigger, a circle will appear on the screen with a cross in the center.
- Aim carefully at each of the four target circles.
- Pull the trigger for each target one by one.
- Try to align your GunCon2βs crosshair as precisely as possible with the target.
Take your time β a good calibration gives you better accuracy in games.
β Finishing the Calibration
- After you complete all four targets, press the A or B button on the GunCon2 to exit the calibration tool and save your settings.
- π Important: After calibrating, disconnect and reconnect the GunCon2βs USB cable to ensure the new calibration data is applied correctly.
β When to Calibrate
You only need to run this calibration once per display setup, unless you:
- Change your CRT geometry settings
- Switch to a different monitor profile
- Use a new display
π― Tips for Best Accuracy
- Stand at your normal playing distance.
- Hold the gun steady β use two hands if needed.
- Repeat the process if your aim feels off.
π Expected Results
- Even if you aim perfectly, the crosshair may not be 100% pixel-perfect.
- This is normal β slight deviations happen because of how the GunCon2 reads the light and sync.
- If needed, use the Micro-Calibration feature to fine-tune later.
π§ Need to Recalibrate?
Re-run the calibration if you:
- Switch displays
- Adjust screen geometry
- Change your monitor profile
