Mulch is a decorative landscaping block.

Mulch functions identically to vanilla dirt. Players can place plants, saplings and other blocks that would otherwise need dirt or grass on mulch and they will place and grow normally.

Since mulch does not grow grass, it's a solid alternative to dirt for building enclosures where a zookeeper might want bare soil. It can be mixed with grass for a natural look without being overgrown. Mulch also comes in all six natural wood colors, and can be used to simulate different kinds of dirt: birch mulch could be a sandy soil, and dark oak could be a wet, dense rainforest soil.

16 mulch can be crafted with 5x Dirt and 4x planks of matching wood type.
